A Youth Prayer on Temptations of Drugs
O Lord Jesus Christ, Our sweet Savior, Who has commanded us, saying: "Love ye one another, even as I have loved you," (John 13:34) kindle in my whole being Thy Love for me and my neighbor, that in all things I may do Thy will
O Holy Lord, keep me and my brother(s) and sister(s) and all our companions ever aware of Thy Divine Love. Assist and guide us to avoid the temptations of this world - its hatreds, its prejudices, its vanities, its insensitive selfishness and callous unconcern. Hear my prayer to Thee now; for I see others around me consumed with the pain of their addiction to drugs or to other habits and practices of this world that dull the mind and kill the soul before it comes to know Thy Salvation.
Grant to all people Thy Divine grace. But especially to those who are young and have not yet realized their path through this life to Thee, give sufficient wisdom, fortitude, courage, understanding, physical, mental and spiritual health, and the will to walk in Thy Way. Hold them in the gentle embrace of Thy love, that they may find the strength to turn away from the constant daily temptations of all those worldly follies that separate men and women from knowing and serving God.
Thou Thyself wert once a child and a teen and a young man. Thou knowest the tears and anxieties and temptations of the young. We humbly ask Thee now to hear our pleas and prayers. Show Thy mercy unto us all, O Lord Our God. Comfort, support and guide us daily in Thy love and in our understanding of Thy plan for our lives. Keep us ever mindful of Thy great Gift to us of eternal life lest we forget that we are Thine and do not merely belong to this world with its elusive pleasures. Remind us every day and in every hour that Thou art with us always and that this life is only the first step in our journey to an eternity with Thee. Amen.
