Breaking the Chains That Bind

Prayer is the practice of the presence of God. It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made. Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming dependence upon God.Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

Military Families and Deployment — Center for Deployment Psychology

Military Families and Deployment — Center for Deployment Psychology Since the US adopted an all-volunteer military force in 1973, there have been changes in the demographic makeup of the military, including a steady increase in the proportion of married service members. While traditionally our military force consisted of service members who were largely young and single, today the number of military family members outnumbers the number of active duty military members. Currently 1.4 million service members make up the active duty armed forces, while there are close to 2 million family members of active duty military personnel, including spouses, children, and adult dependents (2007 Demographics Profile of the Military Community, DMDC, 2007).

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:6-7

Father, in Your mercy, hear our prayers.

Breaking the Chains that Bind

This site is established to provide a forum for discussion of ideas and to make announcements of upcoming activities of the Christian 12-Step recovery ministry of St. Mary the Protectress Orthodox Church. Discover recovery: Life hurts, but God heals. Our church does not just understand recovery, we know that Christianity as taught by Christ was recovery. This is a recovery church.

St. Mary the Protectress Orthodox Church is located at 1000 South Michigan Street, Plymouth, Indiana. You are invited to join us for the Holy Qurbana which starts at 10:00 am every Sunday. We at St. Mary's always welcomes new members to attend our services and be a part of our Church family, or just participate in our recovery programs.

Our recovery program is Christian 12-Step. Our higher power is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

New 12-Step classes are always starting, and 12-Step support groups are always forming. Call the church for more information and class and support group times.

This forum does not representing the official stand of the universal church and does not claim any official recognition of the church authorities, even though the authors owe allegiance to the hierarchy of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church under His Holiness Ignatius Zakka I Iwas.
