Our Purpose and Goals

For our readers who have asked what the purpose and goals of the Breaking the Chains That Bind site are, here are our guiding propose, our goals, our guiding prinicples.

This site is established to provide a forum for discussion of ideas and to make announcements of upcoming activities of the Christian 12-Step recovery ministry of St. Mary the Protectress Orthodox Church. Discover recovery: Life hurts, but God heals. Our church does not just understand recovery, we know that Christianity as taught by Christ was recovery. This is a recovery church.

St. Mary the Protectress Orthodox Church is located at 1000 South Michigan Street, Plymouth, Indiana. You are invited to join us for the Holy Qurbana which starts at 10:00 am every Sunday. We at St. Mary's always welcomes new members to attend our services and be a part of our Church family, or just participate in our recovery programs.

Our recovery program is Christian 12-Step. Our higher power is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

New 12-Step classes are always starting, and 12-Step support groups are always forming. Call the church for more information and class and support group times.

We invite your comments to the articles posted here. If you wish to post completed articles, either those you find somewhere else or those you write, please email them to monastery@synesius.com. We will upload them to the site as original postings with credit to you. If you would like to do this on a regular bases, also let us know so that we can give you more direct access to this forum. You do not need to be Orthodox to comment or post. We do ask that your comments and postings be within the general area of recovery.

This forum does not representing the official stand of the universal church and does not claim any official recognition of the church authorities, even though the authors owe allegiance to the hierarchy of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church under His Holiness Ignatius Zakka I Iwas.
